On the farm
The farm is looking, and sounding, beautiful (thank you birds!). The new season crops are enjoying the sunshine and are growing well. We could do with a bit more rain in the forecast so that the newly planted crops can get a good start before their roots go deep enough to tap into the damp soil at depth. Some years see us holding off with planting, and weeding, until the ground dries up sufficiently for us to get on with the tractor. This year we have held off for wind – the young veg plants are vulnerable until the roots start to grow out from their little compost plugs and into the soil. A harsh drying wind can quickly desiccate them. So, we did delay planting last week. But we have been out planting the last of the leeks today, Monday, and will be cracking on with our brassicas later in the week. The dry weather does have advantages – it makes weeding easy, and means that we can get on with planting without delay. And of course it does make working outside very pleasant!
This week is a monumental one for us. On Wednesday our farm goes to a closing date and we will select the new custodians of this wonderful little patch of land. We hope, of course, that those who have declared an interest in buying Vital Veg along with the land do follow through. All in all rather nail-biting.
** Email issues – please read **
Technology is one of those things that is wonderful when it works, and a bit of a nightmare when it does not! We are through the technical challenge of our online payment update, and now it seems we have email updates to contend with!
Please can you make sure that we are on your safe senders list so that you receive emails from us.
If you have a gmail account for your email you may have noticed that you don’t get email confirmations of your orders with us. This is because gmail is currently blocking emails from our website. We thought we had resolved the issue last week, but apparently not. If you add us to your safe senders list you are less likely to have a problem receiving your order confirmation, or any other messages from us regarding your order.
RETURNING YOUR EMPTY BOXES
It really helps us keep our own prices stable if you can return our boxes regularly and in good condition – please wipe them clean and leave them out for us to collect when your next delivery is due. THANK YOU
