Newsletter 28th March 2022

On the farm
Our nursery tunnel is bursting at the seams with young veg plants, and we have been busy planting lettuces, rocket and mizuna. We will soon be planting kohl rabi, chard, beetroot and sowing radishes. Outside we are beginning cultivations for tattie planting in the next couple of weeks, and preparing ground for early carrots.

Elsewhere on the farm the birds are really busy setting up their nests, singing for mates and defending territories. The frogs are also singing, and the chorus was incredibly loud on Sunday evening - new slug controllers on the way! Exciting new sightings of birds on the farm this week include a Little Grebe and some Teal on one of our ponds.

This weeks’ potatoes
This weeks’ potatoes are Nicola or Bambino. These lovely varieties are almost finished for this year. They are both salad types, with a slightly waxy flesh that holds together well if you want to boil them.
