Rural Skills classes on the farm

Dry stone walling

Learn how to build a wall using natural stones and without using cement. We'll be taking down one of the old walls on the farm and rebuilding it. You will learn how to move stones safely, how to choose the right stones, and how to place them in the wall correctly. You can use these skills to build your own garden wall or feature.

LOCAL, SEASONAL, COOKERY AFTERNOON

Do you like the idea of eating local, seasonal vegetables, but are sometimes stuck for ideas as to what to cook with them? Then this is the event for you!

Come along to picturesque North Tillydaff farm at Midmar (half way between Banchory and Inverurie), home of Vital Veg – growers of almost 100 different vegetable varieties, and:

Stroll with us through our indoor and outdoor vegetable crops to see how they are grown and harvested

watch a cookery demonstration using vegetables picked from our field to learn how to prepare and create some lovely dishes for everyday-eating and entertaining.

taste the dishes made during the afternoon

enjoy tea and home-bakes during a question and answer session
